The Big Canoe Difference

The Big Canoe community hosts several highly impactful, volunteer-driven groups that support a wide range of local charities.

  • Big Canoe Animal Rescue (BCAR): As an entirely volunteer-run, no-kill shelter, BCAR is dedicated to the adoption, care, and well-being of homeless dogs and cats in the surrounding mountains, providing a safe and healthy environment until they find their forever homes.
  • Big Canoe Chapel Men’s Fellowship: This Christian organization is missioned to serve others and foster personal growth. Their ministries include home repairs (like building walk ramps), transportation for residents, and social events like a popular annual charity golf tournament (something I know you’d appreciate!).
  • Big Canoe Chapel Women’s Fellowship: With a “legacy of giving,” this dynamic group is a major force in the area, having raised significant funds to support over 30 local charities devoted to helping women and children in North Georgia. They organize fundraisers like bazaars and casserole sales, and offer spiritual growth opportunities and community outreach.
